The space
Welcome to our dreamy little A-frame, tucked away on over 3 private wooded acres—a true Vermont escape where the only sounds you’ll hear are the wind through the trees and the birds in the morning. Inside, sunlight pours through the windows, creating a warm, inviting glow throughout the day. The open living space is perfect for cozy mornings or winding down after of skiing, complete with a new pellet stove that adds just the right amount of cabin charm. The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas stove, oven, microwave, and dishwasher—whether you're cooking a full meal or just heating up local maple syrup for pancakes. The downstairs bedroom offers a double bed and twin bed—perfect for kids or an extra-comfy spot for couples. The main floor also features a full bath with a standing shower, stocked with fluffy towels and shower-ready toiletries. PS our favorite bathroom feature is the heated floors :) Upstairs, you'll find a peaceful loft with a queen bed and convenient half bath. Both sleeping spaces include storage and extra blankets for those cooler Vermont nights. There are also fans for cooling when it gets warm. We’re proud to be a kid and dog-friendly cabin. Toddlers and kids can enjoy a basket of toys and books, board games, and a booster seat to make family meals easier. We also have a pack n play (please BYO sheet). For your pup, you'll find a water and food bowl ready in the laundry room, plus a fully fenced backyard to keep them safe while you relax. Step outside to your own private haven—our backyard is surrounded by tall trees and lit by string lights giving an ideal outdoor oasis vibe. Roast marshmallows around the fire pit (we provide the firewood!) or sip your coffee on the front deck while the birds welcome the day. There's also grill for evening cookouts in the summer and fall. ☀️ Private 3-acre wooded setting 🛏 Two cozy sleeping areas (queen loft + double/twin room) 🔥 Pellet stove + outdoor fire pit 🍽 Fully equipped kitchen + dining/work table 🧸 Kid and dog-friendly with thoughtful touches 📺 Streaming-ready TV + fast WiFi 🌲 Fenced yard with peaceful forest views ♨️ BBQ + outdoor dining under string lights Planning a warm weather stay? Neighborhood overview
Tucked in the Green Mountains, between two of Vermont's best-loved towns. The Black River A-Frame sits on 3 private, wooded acres just outside Ludlow and a short drive from Woodstock — giving you the best of both worlds: total quiet at the cabin, and two charming Vermont towns to explore whenever you want a coffee, go shopping, or have a night out. Winter & ski season: Okemo Mountain Resort is just minutes away, making this an easy home base for a ski or ride weekend — come back from the slopes to a hot shower, a pellet stove, and no crowds. Killington is also within reach if you want to mix up your mountain. Hiking & outdoors: When the snow melts, the same hills turn into some of the best hiking in the state. Coolidge State Forest and Camp Plymouth State Park have trails for every ability, and the Appalachian Trail/Long Trail corridor isn't far if you want a bigger day out. Bring the leash — this is dog-country, and our fenced yard means your pup can run off-leash the second you're home. Fall foliage: This stretch of the Green Mountains is peak New England foliage territory in late September through mid-October. Quechee Gorge, about 25 minutes away, is a classic foliage stop — Vermont's "Little Grand Canyon" with an easy overlook and a swimming hole below if you catch a warm day. Woodstock: One of Vermont's prettiest towns, with a walkable downtown of independent shops, galleries, and a genuinely great food scene. Don't miss Billings Farm & Museum for a taste of working Vermont farm life, and Simon Pearce in nearby Quechee for glassblowing demos and a riverside restaurant. Ludlow & local flavor: Downtown Ludlow has a friendly, low-key village feel with local restaurants, coffee shops, and easy access to everything the area's known for: Breweries: Long Trail Brewing Co. in Bridgewater Corners and Harpoon Brewery in Windsor are both easy day trips, with taproom food, live music some weekends, and riverside seating. Farmers markets: Seasonal markets run through the warmer months in both Ludlow and Woodstock — a great way to bring home Vermont cheese, maple syrup, and produce for a cabin dinner. Live music: Local venues and breweries regularly host live acts in summer, and Woodstock's town green often has free outdoor concerts. Restaurants: From cozy pub fare to upscale farm-to-table spots, the Ludlow-Woodstock corridor punches well above its weight for a small-town food scene. The vibe overall: Quiet, woodsy, and unmistakably Vermont — the kind of place where you can spend the morning on a mountain or a trail, the afternoon wandering a covered-bridge town, and the evening back at the cabin with a fire going and your dog curled up beside you.

We had a great time while staying at Amanda's place. The cabin is SPOTLESS and very well appointed. Even though it is cozy, you'll have everything you need. Backyard was great for the dog and for watching fireflies in the evenings.

We had such a wonderful stay at this A-frame! The cabin was incredibly cozy and spotless when we arrived. One of the biggest highlights for us was the fully fenced backyard. It was absolutely perfect for our dog. The outdoor lighting made such a difference - we felt completely comfortable letting her roam around, even in the evenings. It’s clear the hosts really thought through the details for both humans and pups. Communication was proactive and seamless from start to finish. We also really appreciated the thoughtful local recommendations — they made planning our stay effortless. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy Vermont getaway!

Amanda
Hi, I'm Amanda. I live full-time in Coastal Connecticut with my husband, our 2 young daughters, and golden retriever. We bought this special place as a fun spot for our own family to escape to, and quickly realized it should be shared with people like you to come relax, explore, and feel recharged. We sincerely hope you feel the magic that we feel when we visit.
